Danny Chance recently retired as Vice President of Origination for BP Energy Company located in Houston, Texas and has started his own energy consulting firm, Southern Energy Consulting, LLC.

Mr. Chance began his career in the energy industry with Arkla Energy Resources (now Center Point) in 1986 where he held various accounting, contract, and transportation positions in the organization before he was recruited by Prior Energy in 1991 to develop transportation services on the major Southeast interstate pipelines.  Mr. Chance added accounting and risk management responsibilities to his duties and was instrumental in developing Prior Energy’s hedging and risk management programs for end- users and producers as well as their own storage portfolio.

Upon the acquisition of Prior Energy by BP Energy in 2004, Mr. Chance became the Director of Marketing, responsible for marketing activities.  In 2008, he was promoted to the Southeast Regional Office Leader position for BP Energy, and subsequently to Vice President, which has responsibility for natural gas marketing and origination activities in the Southeastern United States.  In June of 2012 he relocated to the Houston Corporate Office and was responsible for managing the Mobile, Alabama and Charlotte, North Carolina offices along with the marketing and origination team in Houston, Texas.  At his retirement from BP, Mr. Chance held marketing and origination responsibilities for the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic Regions of the United States along with Mexico.

Danny is interested in and active with several service projects and activities.  He served on the Board of Advisors for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, served as a volunteer and worked on various projects on a regular basis for the Mobile Penelope House, the local shelter for victims of domestic violence.   He served as Coordinator for the “Katrina Relief Project” sponsored by his church which assisted with the extensive clean-up and restoration of the Gulf Coast.  He is very interested in the youth of our communities and has taught a high school ethics class and coached middle school basketball.  In his leisure time, he enjoys playing golf and restoring classic cars.

Danny has been married to his wife Martha for over 25 years and they have two children. He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a BS in accounting and a MBA in Finance.
